Mission Statement:
To educate students and the public about local limnology, oceanography, human impacts on ecosystems (including human-caused climate change), ecological recovery practices, conservation techniques, and to lead and participate in ecological recovery projects.
Purpose Statement:
The purpose of the ECODUCK is to increase understanding and awareness of human impacts on local ecosystems and ways in which citizens can engage in ecological recovery and conservation projects. The ECODUCK will also lead and participate in evidence-based conservation and ecological recovery projects to improve the ecosphere’s health for current and future generations of humans and all living things.
Phases:
Restore the Amphibious Truck: a 1943 GMC DUKW to its original military specifications (donations needed).
Equip the DUKW with modern safety technologies like floating seats, life-vests with mounted GPS transmitters and lights, rapid-inflatable rafts, and more (donations needed).
Certify the DUKW with Florida Department of Transportation as a tour boat and truck.
Start tours for K-12 and college students to teach them about local freshwater, brackish water, and saltwater ecosystems (see tours).
